DuSable Lake Shore Drive Overnight Closures in Effect This Week Between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive

Resurfacing work continues this week on DuSable Lake Shore Drive between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

Lane closures will only affect southbound traffic.

Significant impacts begin at 7 p.m., and complete overnight lane closures kick in at 9 p.m. and run through 6 a.m. the following morning.  

According to CDOT, the resurfacing project is expected to be completed by late October.

Here’s a rundown of the week’s schedule:


MONDAY, SEPT. 23 (southbound)

One southbound lane will remain closed between Irving Park Road and Diversey Parkway.

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

— One southbound lane will be open between Fullerton Avenue and LaSalle Drive.

— All ramps will be open.

9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes will be closed between Fullerton Avenue and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be closed in this stretch.

— All southbound vehicles will exit at Fullerton and detour to LaSalle via Stockton Drive.


TUESDAY, SEPT. 24 (southbound)

All day: One southbound lane closed from Irving Park Road to Diversey Boulevard, and two southbound lanes are closed at LaSalle Drive. These additional closures are necessary for safety after overnight milling operations found the roadway base in poorer condition than anticipated, according to CDOT. 

Similar poor conditions in the milled surface caused damage to numerous cars last week, prompting CDOT to put additional closures in place. 

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

— One southbound lane will be open between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be open.

9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes will be closed between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— Exit and entrance ramps will be closed in this stretch.

— Inner Lake Shore Drive will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Drive via Sheridan Road, Cannon Drive and Stockton Drive.


WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 25 (southbound)

All day: The southbound left lane will remain closed between Irving Park and Diversey. 

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

— One southbound lane will be open between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be open.

9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes will be closed between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be closed along this stretch.

— Inner Lake Shore Drive will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Drive via Sheridan Road, Cannon Drive and Stockton Drive.


THURSDAY, SEPT. 26 (southbound)

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

— One southbound lane will be open between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be open.

9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes will be closed between between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be closed along this stretch.

— Inner Lake Shore Drive will remain open to detour traffic to LaSalle Drive via Sheridan Road, Cannon Drive and Stockton Drive.
