DuSable Lake Shore Drive Closures Are Expanding the Week of Oct. 6: Here’s the New Schedule

Another week, another set of navigational challenges on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive as the number of lane closures increases to accommodate an ongoing resurfacing project.

Both northbound and southbound traffic will be affected; motorists should consider choosing an alternate route or allow plenty of extra time.

According to CDOT, the resurfacing project is expected to be completed by late October.

Here’s CDOT’s resurfacing schedule for the week of Oct. 6:

SUNDAY, Oct. 6 (southbound)

5 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes closed between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be closed in that same stretch.

— Traffic will exit at Irving Park and detour via Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan Road and Cannon Drive.


MONDAY, Oct. 7 (southbound and northbound)

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

— Only one southbound lane will be open between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All ramps will be open.

7 p.m. until 6 a.m. (or sooner):

— Both the northbound and southbound directions will be reduced to one lane between Lawrence and Hollywood avenues.

— All ramps will be open.

— According to CDOT, lanes might not be closed all night — the timing will depend on how work progresses, with 6 a.m. the latest those lanes will reopen. 

9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes closed between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be closed in that same stretch.

— Traffic will exit at Irving Park and detour via Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan Road and Cannon Drive.


TUESDAY, Oct. 8 (southbound and northbound)

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

— Only one southbound lane will be open between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All ramps will be open.

7 p.m. until 6 a.m. (or sooner):

— Northbound and southbound reduced to one lane between Lawrence and Hollywood avenues.

— All ramps will be open.

9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes closed between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be closed in that same stretch.

— Traffic will exit at Irving Park and detour via Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan Road and Cannon Drive.


WEDNESDAY, Oct. 9 (southbound and northbound)

7 p.m. to 9 p.m.:

— Only one southbound lane will be open between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All ramps will be open.

7 p.m. to 6 a.m. (or sooner):

— Northbound and southbound reduced to one lane between Lawrence and Hollywood avenues.

— All ramps will be open.

9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes closed between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be closed in that same stretch.

— Northbound and southbound reduced to one lane between Lawrence and Hollywood avenues.

— All ramps will be open.

9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

— All southbound lanes closed between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive.

— All exit and entrance ramps will be closed in that same stretch.
