R&B singer R. Kelly is moving out of his Chicago recording studio because a judge has stymied his creativity by barring him from working there overnight due to building-code violations, his lawyer said Wednesday.
A judge who last month ruled that R. Kelly could only enter the Chicago warehouse he uses as a recording studio between 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. now says he can stay until 9 p.m.
Nearly three dozen Chicago Public Schools staffers, including 12 teachers, have been removed from schools due to sexual abuse allegations in recent months, according to the district’s watchdog.
The ruling comes a week after Chicago building inspectors found code violations at the R&B star’s recording studio on the city’s Near West Side during a court-ordered inspection. 
Evanston Township High School district officials have reached an agreement with four former students who claimed they were sexually abused decades ago by a former drama teacher.
The announcement comes two weeks after the popular documentary series “Surviving R. Kelly” drew fresh attention to the sex abuse allegations against R. Kelly, which have dogged him most of his career. 
The Rev. John Smyth has been removed from the Archdiocese of Chicago’s ministry while it investigates accusations of sexual abuse against the longtime priest. 
Chicago Building Department spokesman Gregg Cunningham says the agency will list the violations during a court hearing next week.

State’s attorney says she was “sickened” by allegations made against singer

The Cook County state’s attorney said she was “sickened” by recent allegations of sexual and physical abuse made against R&B star R. Kelly in a new televised docuseries.
A staff member at Chicago’s largest public high school has been removed following an allegation of inappropriate behavior involving a student. “We are taking this situation seriously,” the school’s principal wrote Friday in an email to parents.
