The boy was one of two juveniles killed in separate shootings in Chicago Wednesday night.

Cesar Ramirez, 44, was ordered held without bail Wednesday following his arrest on numerous felony charges stemming from an incident Saturday.

Both Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Chicago Police Supt. David Brown have defended the decision to not to terminate the officer. The officer was “thoroughly investigated” and “given a lengthy period of suspension,” Lightfoot said.

According to Chicago Police Department data, 51 people were shot in 43 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

The shooting happened about 4 a.m. Sunday in Brighton Park after the caravan blocked streets leading to the intersection for illegal street racing, Chicago police Cmdr. Don Jerome said during a news conference. 

During the Chicago Police Department’s annual budget hearing, under intense questioning from members of the Chicago City Council, Brown said he had “zero tolerance” for police officers who are members of hate groups or associate with members of hate groups.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability, known as COPA, recommended that Officer Eric Stillman be fired for shooting Toledo in the instant that the 13-year-old turned toward him and put his hands in the air, according to the video of the incident.

According to a community alert issued by Chicago police, there have been 19 such robberies reported — many of which have occurred in the 6700 block of South Elizabeth Street — between July and October.

Ohday McCamury, 19, was held without bail during a hearing Monday afternoon following his arrest on the attempted murder charge, as well as two additional counts of robbery and a misdemeanor count of obstructing identification.
