13 People Shot Over Weekend Across Chicago: Police

At least two juveniles were among the 13 people shot over the weekend in Chicago.

According to Chicago Police Department data, there were 12 separate shootings between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday. No one was killed during that time frame, but a 16-year-old girl was fatally shot just before 6 p.m. Friday.

Police said a 16-year-old boy was shot and seriously wounded on the CTA Red Line early Sunday. The teen was in the 10 block of West Cermak Road at around 2 a.m. when he was shot in the eye and ear. He told police he heard multiple gunshots, but could not provide any additional details. The boy was hospitalized in serious condition.

Police made an arrest in connection with the shooting, but that person was later released without being charged.

A 15-year-old boy was also shot Sunday morning in the 1700 block of East 95th Street. He was inside a vehicle in that area when he was shot in the arm. He was hospitalized in good condition.

One girl was killed just before 6 p.m. Friday in a shooting at a home in the 100 block of North Oakley. The 16-year-old victim and a 15-year-old boy were inside of a residence at around 5:50 p.m. when they were struck by outside gunfire. The girl was shot in the head and rushed to the hospital, where she died a day later. The boy suffered a graze wound to the buttocks and was hospitalized in good condition.
