Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said the shooting occurred Friday afternoon as classes were being dismissed. Two victims died, and the other two were in serious condition.

According to CPD spokesman Tom Ahern, the shooting occurred outside the school. Chicago Public Schools has since issued an “all clear” for students in the building. No one is currently in custody.

Brown said “multiple rounds” were fired, but could not yet clear exactly how many.

“We’re gonna get the facts,” Chicago Public Schools CEO Pedro Martinez said, “but as the superintendent said first we want to make sure we really have the victims in our prayers.”

CPS will add safety and security measures at the school when classes resume Monday, along with grief and counseling services for Juarez students.

Brown would not confirm if any of the victims were students at the school.

This marks the second fatal shooting outside a CPS school this month, after a 15-year-old boy was killed near Michele Clark Magnet High School last week.
