The charity’s initiatives include youth summer camps, support for those experiencing homelessness, youth open mics and grants to expand student access to computer science, arts and literary education at Chicago Public Schools, according to its website.

During a news conference Thursday, Chance the Rapper said he is more involved in SocialWorks than most other celebrities who have nonprofits because he’s based in Chicago and can attend SocialWorks events that his friends, who help run the nonprofit, host in the city.

“A lot of the future of SocialWorks is expanding on existing programs,” Chance the Rapper said. “I think all the programs that we run and all the partners that we engage could all just be boosted and be expanded to reach more people.”
