Learn All About Raising Backyard Chickens, Bees, Goats and More at Urban Livestock Expo
In the past decade, the main question about raising farm animals in the city has gone from “Is it legal?” to “Is it for me?”
Saturday’s free Urban Livestock Expo, held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Prosser Career Academy and organized by Advocates for Urban Agriculture, is designed to help provide answers, before you get in over your head.
Whether you’re curious about backyard chickens, bees, goats, ducks, quail or other animals, the expo has a workshop for you. Experts will present information on topics including daily care and maintenance, ideal breeds and tips on how not to make enemies of your neighbors.
A resource fair will connect attendees with other members of the urban livestock community and will offer information regarding sources of supplies, equipment and learning opportunities.
Spanish-only workshops will be offered and interpretation services will be available.
