It’s the first time since 1998 that Jesse White won’t be on the ballot for Illinois secretary of state.
The job not only involves administering driver’s licenses for the states’ residents, but also maintaining official records, overseeing automatic voter registration and other duties.
The candidates vow to speed up the lines and modernize the office.
Alexi Giannoulias is the Democratic nominee. Giannoulias was the state treasurer from 2007 to 2011.
Dan Brady is the Republican nominee. Brady has served in the Illinois House of Representatives since 2001.
Also on the ballot is Libertarian candidate, Jon Stewart. You can find out more about Stewart and his platform at WTTW.com/VoterGuide.
