Stage Shows Go On Despite Some Cancellations

Following the long pandemic shutdown, many theaters came back in the fall only to pivot once again in the face of the omicron threat. After canceling some weekend performances, Joffrey Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” returned Sunday with all dancers wearing masks.

Other productions that have canceled some shows include “Sister Act” at Mercury Theater and “Kiss Me, Kate” at Marriott Theatre Lincolnshire. Both have plans to return in late December. With companies making moment-to-moment decisions, Hedy Weiss recommends checking with the theater if you intend to go or have purchased a ticket.
