The mayor’s office released emails Wednesday related to the wrongful raid of Anjanette Young's home that left the social worker handcuffed while naked. This comes after building pressure for Mayor Lori Lightfoot to be transparent about the botched raid.

Meanwhile, Chicago Public Schools teachers and staff are scheduled to go back on Monday, with students returning on Jan. 11. The Chicago Teachers Union has continued to push back on the reopening plan, saying it puts workers at risk.

President Trump signed the second stimulus package on Sunday after threatening not to sign it. One of his demands was large stimulus checks, $2,000 instead of $600. The House approved increasing the stimulus check amount to $2,000 on Monday, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell blocked a stand-alone attempt to vote on the bill. Instead, McConnell tied it to other demands from Trump, like repealing internet platform protections and a commission to study issues in the election.

This comes as President-elect Joe Biden names former Chicago Department of Public Health commissioner, Bechara Choucair, as national vaccine coordinator.
