Jay Shefsky has introduced "Chicago Tonight" viewers to a wide variety of everyday Chicagoans. We’ve met 96-year-old Evanston painter Peggy Lipschutz, beehive rescuer Dan Parizek, and Michael and Amelia Howard, who transformed a trash-filled South Side property into a nature center for their community.
Now, more than 50 of Jay’s "Chicago Tonight" stories have been collected into season three of "Jay’s Chicago," which premieres Friday night at 7:30 p.m. on WTTW11.
“Each episode will have a theme,” says Jay, “like ‘Unusual Jobs,’ ‘Overcoming Obstacles,’ or ‘On the Water.’” That last show, coming later in the season, includes Jay’s recent trips kayaking on an industrial stretch of the Calumet River and “scaring myself silly in a 96 mph speedboat.”
"Jay’s Chicago" will also have a brand new website, where you can watch the stories and learn more about each subject. Click here to see Jay's new site.
Jay joins us tonight to talk more about the new season of his show.
