Illinois House Passes Medicaid Cuts
It was a passionate debate, but in the end, the Illinois House passed Medicaid reform. We have the latest from Springfield on that, and the gambling expansion debate, on Chicago Tonight at 7:00 pm.
The Medicaid bill would cut services by about $1.3 billion to fill the $2.7 billion shortfall in the health care program for the poor.
The bill would end a program that discounts drugs for nearly 200,000 seniors and people with disabilties. It would also stop coverage for about 35,000 adults and cut state payments to hospitals and other care facilities by about $240 million.
The House passed the bill 94-22, with one member voting present.
