Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in Evanston will be the new home for the Chicago Stars for the 2026 National Women’s Soccer League season, the women’s soccer team announced Wednesday.
“This move to Northwestern Medicine Field at Martin Stadium in 2026 marks a historic step for the club and a new era for the Chicago Stars,” Chicago Stars President Karen Leetzow said in a news release.
The team will play at the Evanston stadium on Sept. 7 for its “Lakefront Faceoff” match against the Orlando Pride before moving to the stadium for the entire season in 2026.
The stadium, which sits along Lake Michigan, is a 12,000-seat facility that was built as the interim home for Northwestern football while the university’s new Ryan Field is constructed.
“What began as a temporary lakefront home for Northwestern football has quickly become a unique venue that has welcomed collegiate, professional and international competition — and the response from athletes and fans has been tremendous,” Northwestern Director of Athletics Mark Jackson said in a news release.
The Chicago Stars will be moving from SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview.
