This is the team’s first major brand transformation in its nearly 20-year history.

“As the stewards of this club, Laura Ricketts, the ownership group and the leadership team believe it is time to evolve our identity as a symbol of this new chapter,” Chicago Stars FC President Karen Leetzow said in a news release.

Chicago Stars FC will continue to use the Red Stars name and crest for the remainder of the season before fully transitioning to the new brand at the start of the 2025 season.

The new Chicago Stars FC crest features a red star in the center meant to reference the Chicago flag and represent the club’s past, present and future players, according to a news release. The curved shape at the top of the crest aims to resemble the marquees found across the city. The blues that fill the crest symbolize the meeting between land and lake.

The name Chicago Red Stars was chosen in 2009 as a tribute to the four stars found on the Chicago city flag, according to a news release.
