At Least 5 Killed in Weekend Shootings Across Chicago: Police

Five people were killed by gunfire in shootings across Chicago over the weekend.

According to the Chicago Police Department, 25 people were shot in 23 separate shootings between Friday and Sunday evenings.

A 35-year old man was killed in the 10600 block of South State Street at around 10:30 p.m. Friday. Police said he was sitting in a parked vehicle with another person when a known man approached on foot and fired shots. The victim was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the head and later died.

A 24-year old man was killed in the 0-100 block of West Hubbard Street following a fight with another man at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said the victim was in a physical altercation when someone pulled out a gun and fired shots. The victim died at a local hospital.

A man was found dead inside a residence in the 2000 block of South State Street at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. He had been shot multiple times.

A 20-year-old man was fatally shot at around 4:15 a.m. Saturday in the 5600 block of West Addison Street. He was initially hospitalized in critical condition but later died of his injuries.

A 26-year old man was killed in the 7900 block of South Ashland Avenue at around 10:15 p.m. Saturday. He was standing outside with a group of people when someone opened fire, striking him twice in the arm and flank. The man later died at a local hospital.
