4 People Killed by Gunfire Across Chicago Over the Weekend: Police

Four people were killed by gunfire across Chicago over the weekend.

According to Chicago Police Department figures, 16 people were shot in 14 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

A 45-year-old man was shot in the head in the 4600 block of West Maypole Avenue at around 6:45 p.m. Friday. He was hospitalized in critical condition and later died. Police said a person of interest had been taken for questioning in connection with the shooting.

One man was killed and a second was injured in a shooting in the 1500 block of East 75th Street at around 5 p.m. Saturday. The victims, ages 23 and 38, were in a parking lot when they were both shot by an unknown offender. The older man was killed and the younger man was hospitalized in critical condition.

A 27-year-old man was killed in an alley near the 5200 block of South Central Avenue at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. Police said a black truck approached the man and someone inside fired shots before fleeing. The victim was struck in the right side of the chest and died.

A 25-year-old man was fatally shot in the 4200 block of North Kimball Avenue just before 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The victim was standing on a porch outside when two men approached and fired shots, striking him five times. He later died at a local hospital.
