One person was fatally shot and a dozen others were wounded by gunfire over the weekend across Chicago.
According to the Chicago Police Department, 13 people were shot in 13 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
The lone gun homicide occurred inside a garage warehouse in the 1800 block of North Kostner Avenue, where a 55-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Police said he was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A 15-year-old boy also died of a gunshot wound Sunday at around 6:15 p.m., however police have classified this as a “death investigation” rather than a homicide.
CPD data released last week shows the number of homicides recorded in the city through the end of February is down more than 20% compared with the same time last year.
