According to Chicago Police Department data, 20 people were shot in 17 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday. The victims included 15-year-old Demea Morris and 17-year-old Daniel Rios, who were each killed.

According to police, Rios was in a physical altercation with a known offender at around 7 p.m. Friday in the 6700 block of West Belmont Avenue, when that person produced a firearm and shot Rios in the lower abdomen. The teen was rushed to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition, but he died a short time later.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired in the 10600 block of South Sangamon Street just before 1 a.m. Sunday found Morris sitting inside the back seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound to the back of the head. She was hospitalized but later pronounced dead.

Two men were shot at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the 7000 block of South Lafayette Avenue. The pair were standing outside when an unknown vehicle pulled up and someone inside produced a firearm and fired shots. A 24-year-old man was struck in the head and hospitalized in critical condition, and a 30-year-old man was struck multiple times and died.
