Although the number of e-scooters provided in 2020 quadrupled compared to the previous year, from 2,500 to 10,000, 540,000 fewer trips were made using the scooters in 2020 compared to the 665,000 in 2019, according to CDOT.
While officials discuss the possibility of a permanent e-scooter program in Chicago, several City Council members are raising safety concerns about the swift modes of transport.
