Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has at least two new gigs after wrapping up his second term in office – one with ABC News and the other with The Atlantic.
The announcements come the day after his successor, Mayor Lori Lightfoot, was sworn into office.
A source confirmed with WTTW News that Emanuel will be joining ABC News as a contributor, as first reported by The Daily Beast, but did not provide additional details.
The Atlantic announced Emanuel will become a contributing editor to the publication.
Emanuel has written a dozen articles – 13 in total since June 2017 – for the magazine, and his latest piece, “It’s Time to Hold American Elites Accountable for Their Abuses,” was published Tuesday morning.
In a statement, a spokesperson said The Atlantic will be the “primary home for Emanuel’s writing” and that the former mayor will contribute essays to the Ideas section, which is led by senior editor Yoni Appelbaum.
