Chicago City Council | 2019 Election Voters' Guide
Fifty aldermen make up the Chicago City Council, each representing one of Chicago’s wards. Aldermen introduce, consider and debate citywide laws and resolutions in City Council. They also have a great deal of power within each of their individual wards, controlling more than $1 million of “menu money” each year and overseeing a variety of issues such as business licenses, zoning and city jobs.
