Chicago Humanities Announces Full Fall Festival Schedule Featuring Ira Glass, Kyle MacLachlan and Marlon James

Chicago Humanities announced its full fall festival schedule, featuring standalone programs and festival days in select neighborhoods, the festival announced Tuesday.
Highlights from this year’s festival lineup include a conversation with film and television star Kyle MacLachlan, along with an already sold-out event with MacLachlan’s costars from the 1990s cult classic TV show, “Twin Peaks,” and a sold-out concert by musician Susanna Hoffs.
Other highlights include “This American Life” host Ira Glass with writer Etgar Keret, political consultants David Axelrod and Sarah Longwell, novelist Marlon James, comedian Jeff Garlin, author John Green, authors and organizers Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor, and a performance by GRAMMY Award-winning percussion ensemble Third Coast Percussion joined by Pulitzer Prize-finalist composer, performer and electronic musician Jlin.
The festival runs from September through November.
The conversations this year span social justice, music, politics, literature, food, poetry, photography and more, according to a news release. Programming also includes tours highlighting the city’s rich history, architecture and public art through Pilsen Public Art tours, Brick of Chicago tours and Doorways of Chicago tours.
Festival all-day programming is being held in Pilsen on Sept. 26, at Northwestern University in Evanston on Oct. 4 and at the University of Chicago in Hyde Park on Nov. 7.
“One of the best ways to understand our city is through its neighborhoods, and this season with Chicago Humanities invites audiences to do just that through conversations with artists, writers, musicians, photographers, chefs, historians, and scholars – alongside walking tours, museums, performances, and community partnerships,” co-creative director Lauren Pacheco said in a Tuesday news release.

Tickets for most events go on sale to the general public starting Thursday at 10 a.m. Tickets sales for members opened Tuesday morning. Tickets for select partnered events, such as the events with Kyle MacLachlan, Ira Glass and Marlon James are already on sale.
