4 Dead in Weekend Shootings in Chicago: Police

Four people were killed by gunfire in Chicago over the weekend, according to preliminary data from the Chicago Police Department.
In total, 16 people were shot in 13 separate incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
Victims include a 21-year-old woman who was shot in the head Saturday in Avalon Park, at approximately 5:20 p.m. She and a 21-year-old man were in a vehicle in the 1600 block of East 87th Street when they were fired on by an unknown person. Both were taken to University of Chicago Medical Center where the woman later died and the man was listed in critical condition, also with a gunshot wound to the head.
Early Sunday, two people were killed in separate incidents that occurred shortly before 1 a.m. In West Town, an unidentified man was found unresponsive in the 700 block of North Halsted Street at approximately 12:45 a.m. and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head. He later died.
At 12:54 a.m., officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 11500 block of South LaSalle Street in the West Pullman neighborhood. A 38-year-old man was found on the ground and pronounced dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
Two men were shot, one of them fatally, in the West Garfield Park neighborhood Sunday at approximately 1:30 p.m. in the 4600 block of West Monroe Street. A 25-year-old man was pronounced dead on the scene of a gunshot wound to the back. A 34-year-old man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Both were shot by an unidentified man, who fled the scene on foot.
All of the homicides are under investigation, with no one in custody.
