20 People Shot, 1 Killed by Gunfire Over Weekend Across Chicago: Police

One person was killed by gunfire and multiple teens were wounded in shootings across Chicago over the weekend.

According to the Chicago Police Department, 20 people were shot in 14 separate incidents between Friday and Sunday evenings.

A 32-year-old man was fatally shot in the 7600 block of South Halsted Street at around 4:15 a.m. Sunday. Police said the victim was involved in a physical altercation with two men before shots were fired. The victim was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Two teens were wounded in a drive-by shooting in the 7000 block of South Vincennes Avenue at around 4:20 p.m. Saturday. The pair were on the sidewalk in that area when they were shot by someone inside a passing vehicle. A 15-year-old boy was struck in the abdomen and a 17-year-old boy suffered a graze wound to his arm. Both were hospitalized in good condition.

Two other teens, ages 14 and 15, were wounded in a separate shooting about an hour earlier in the 2900 block of East 82nd Street. Both victims were shot in the back and were hospitalized in good condition.
