Pair of 16-Year-Old Boys Among 8 People Killed by Gunfire Over Weekend Across Chicago: Police

Two 16-year-old boys were among at least eight people killed by gunfire in separate shootings across Chicago over the weekend.
According to the Chicago Police Department, 31 people were shot in 25 separate shooting incidents between Friday and Sunday evenings.
Three 16-year-old boys were shot, one fatally, in the 5600 Block of North Rockwell Street just before 7 p.m. Friday. A witness told police the victims were shot at by someone traveling in a black SUV, which fled the scene. One of the boys was struck in the back and was killed. The other two boys were hospitalized, one in fair condition and one in serious condition.
A 34-year-old man was shot and killed in the 400 Block of West Division Street just after 2:30 a.m. Saturday. He was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A 44-year-old man was fatally shot in the 2900 block of South State Street at around 10:40 a.m. Saturday. Police said he was shot multiple times by an unknown person and died at a local hospital.
A 49-year-old man was killed in the 4300 block of West 25th Street just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers responded to that area following a gunshot detection alert and found the victim outside with multiple gunshot wounds.
A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot in the 6500 block of South Racine Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday. According to police, the boy had been in a verbal altercation with an unknown person who then produced a firearm and fired shots. The boy was struck in the chest and legs and was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Two men were killed in a Sunday shooting in the 12300 block of South Halsted Street. Police said the men were found unresponsive in a Jeep Cherokee at around 8:30 a.m. They each had been shot multiple times and were pronounced dead on the scene.
A 19-year-old man was killed and two others were injured in a shooting Sunday in the 2800 block of South Kedzie Avenue. Officers found the man unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds at around 5 p.m. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital. A 19-year-old woman was also struck and hospitalized in fair condition and a 20-year-old man was hospitalized in critical condition.
