Candidate Statement
Hello. I'm Arthur J. Jones, the conservative Republican Candidate for the 3rd Congressional District. There are several reasons why I am again running for congress.
First, I am concerned that our country is being led toward a war with Iran, by agents and sympathizers of a foreign nation that wants us at war with Iran. And with President Trump or someone else in the White house, war with Iran and its allies -Russia, China, and North Korea is a very real possibility, that could lead to World War III.
Secondly, it's time, high time, past time, about time for the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn the infamous Roe vs Wade decision and end the real Holocaust of Abortion in America. Since that ruling on Jan. 23, 1973, over 60 million babies have been killed.
My third reason for running is to be your voice in Washington and demand the U.S. Attorney General, William Barr, arrest and prosecute every public official regardless of party affiliation, who has declared their city, county or state a sanctuary for the hordes of illegal aliens pouring across our borders from 141 foreign countries.
Whether these criminals are found in government suites or on America's streets, this defiance of Federal Immigration laws, must come to an end if our country is to survive as safe, civilized, prosperous, sovereign nation.
My fourth reason for running is my profound respect for the Constitution and our Bill of Rights. I took an oath when I entered the U.S. Army on March 17, 1969 to defend the Constitution against all enemies Foreign and Domestic. I fought to defend those ideals in Vietnam and now 51 years later, I am still in the fight defending those precious documents against those who would alter or abolish them.
As your congressman, I pledge to carry on that fight in Washington. Yes! It's time for a change in 2020. It's time to put America First!
Thank You.
Candidate Q&A
Why are you running?
I am running because first of all, I believe my experiences in life have prepared me for this task. I am a veteran and survivor of many combat battles in the Vietnam War; I was a success in the tough profession of straight commission insurance sales for 36 years, with some of America's largest insurance companies, such as Mutual of Omaha where I was the Agent of the Year in 1985 and 7 times Agent of the Month. And I am proud to say in 36 years of service to my clients, never once did they have reason to complain nor is there any mark on my reputation for a fine or suspension with the Illinois State Dept. of Insurance.
I have also been a member of 3 unions before I began my professional sales career - as a milling machine operator with United Steel Workers; as a member of the Teamsters when I worked for Meadow Gold Dairy in Beloit, Wis. and when I worked for 3 years as a "Chipper & Grinder" in a foundry in Milwaukee, I was a member of the Gray Iron Workers union. So I believe my varied experiences have given me a far better preparation for serving the people of this district, than anyone else.
What is your vision for this office?
I simply envision this office as the place where the people with problems can come and I will do my best to help them, just as I have done with my insurance clients over the past 3 decades. However, I also intend to be in public office, what I am now: a Rebel, a fighter against the cowardly and corrupt politicians of both parties - a statesman for the people who elected me.
What do you think is the most pressing issue facing your constituents and how do you plan on addressing it?
President Trump or possibly Vice President Pence, if Trump is removed from office, could end up in a war with Iran. Iran is over twice as large as the state of Texas, with over 83 million people of which 11 million could be mobilized for war with the U.S. They also have three powerful allies: Russia, China and North Korea. And well-armed allies in the area: Hazballah in Lebanon; ISIS in Syria and the Taliban in Afghanistan. They also have the NN-22 Anti-ship missile which when it locks on a ship, it strikes that ship at over 2, 000 miles an hour. A war with Iran could lead to World War III and there would be no World War IV. That's what led 850 people to sign my nomination papers. And They all agreed with me, that we should just get the hell out of the Middle East and bring all our military forces home to defend our country from an outright invasion on our southern border according to ICE, now from 141 countries! If I am elected, I shall not be silenced on this crucial issue.
