The popular arts and culture event “Sundays on State” is returning downtown for two Sundays in the fall, the Chicago Loop Alliance announced Tuesday.
“Sundays on State” will be held Sept. 7 and Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event closes off vehicular traffic on State Street from Randolph Street to Jackson Boulevard.
The event — which started in 2021 and is now in its fifth year — features performances, food, drinks, shopping and local attractions, showcasing nearly 400 vendors and artists this year.
A list of performers and vendors for each date can be found here.
“What started as an initiative to support the Loop’s economic recovery post-pandemic has transformed into one of the city’s marquee events,” Chicago Loop Alliance President and CEO Michael Edwards said in a news release.
While the event has previously been held during the summer months, Edwards said in a statement that moving the event to the fall allows the Chicago Loop Alliance to support other major downtown events in the summer like Lollapalooza and the NASCAR Chicago Street Race.
“Sundays on State” is free and open to the public. Those who RSVP are automatically entered for a chance to win a $1,000 Loop staycation package.
