17 Students, 2 Drivers Injured in School Bus Collision in Mount Greenwood: Chicago Police

Seventeen students and two drivers were transported to hospitals following a school bus collision Friday morning in the Mount Greenwood neighborhood, according to the Chicago Police Department.

At about 7:32 a.m., a school bus transporting suburban high school students was traveling westbound and stopped at a red light at the 3900 block of W. 111th Street, according to police.

An SUV, driven by a 64-year-old male, then attempted a right turn in front of the bus, at which time the bus struck the SUV’s passenger side, police say.

The 17 students and two drivers were transported to hospitals in the area for observation.

All are in fair condition, according to police.

Six students and two drivers were transported to Little Company of Mary Hospital, six students were transported to Advocate Christ Hospital and five students were transported to Holy Cross Hospital.

Citations against the driver of the SUV were pending as of Friday morning, police say.
