March continues to live up to its reputation as a weather rollercoaster, with wild swings between winter and spring.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the forecast for Chicago includes a chance of almost anything and everything: rain, thunderstorms, wind and even snow.

According to the National Weather Service, the threat of thunderstorms runs from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, with the greatest chance of tornadoes being south of I-88.

Late Wednesday night, possibly into early Thursday, wet wind-whipped snow could accumulate an inch or more, particularly north of I-80.

An added twist: Powerful storms in the Great Plains have lofted dust into the atmosphere, which could give the skies over Illinois a milky haze on Wednesday. A similar effect was visible over the past weekend, according to Illinois Storm Chasers.
