High Winds Will Make for Blustery St. Paddy's Celebrations on Saturday, Beware of Falling Trees

A high wind warning is in effect through noon on Saturday, with the potential to down trees and power lines, according to the National Weather Service.
Expect sustained winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour, with gusts of 50 to 60 miles per hour.
Though Chicago escaped the worst of Friday night's thunderstorms, numerous tornado warnings were issued throughout central and southern Illinois. Places like Woodstock, Illinois, reported uprooted trees and the roof was reportedly blown off a church in Elgin, according to Illinois Storm Chasers.
Areas that didn't receive much rain Friday are higher risk for brush fires to burn out of control, with the weather service urging people to be extra cautious when disposing of any burning materials.
Motorists should watch out for falling debris and tree limbs.

For folks celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, the city of Chicago’s parade on Saturday could be a blustery affair. A high wind advisory will go into effect from noon until 5 p.m. on Saturday, with gusts of 50 miles per hour still possible.
People headed to Sunday’s parades on the South or Northwest Sides will need to bundle up, with the forecast calling for the potential of snow showers in the early morning and high temperatures in the low 40s.
