The new ballpark name comes after the mortgage company Guaranteed Rate, which has had naming rights to the stadium since 2016, announced this summer it would be rebranding to Rate.

“We couldn’t be happier with our partnership with the Chicago White Sox in this transformation,” Rate CEO Victor Ciardelli said in a press release on Wednesday. “We are thrilled to showcase our new name on this legendary ballpark for the best fans in baseball in the greatest city in the world."

The stadium, located near Bridgeport, was originally called Comiskey Park when it opened in 1991. The stadium has also went by the name U.S. Cellular Field from 2003 to 2016.

This past year, White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf proposed building a new stadium in the South Loop at a site dubbed the 78, but has not received support from elected officials in using taxpayer money to fund the new stadium.

The White Sox closed out the 2024 season with the worst record in modern MLB history with 41 wins and 121 losses.
