A man who was fatally shot following a traffic accident in West Town was one of three people killed by gunfire over the weekend across Chicago.
According to the Chicago Police Department, 30 people were shot in 25 separate shootings between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Sunday.
The fatal West Town shooting occurred in the 1500 block of North Magnolia Avenue at around 2 a.m. Sunday. Following the collision, an unknown person in a red vehicle — which had struck the victim’s vehicle — opened fire, striking the victim in the chest. He was hospitalized in critical condition, but later died.
A 25-year-old man was fatally shot inside a home in the 5600 block of West Potomac Avenue at around 5 a.m. Sunday. The man was inside a residence in that area when someone outside fired shots, striking him once. He later died at a local hospital.
A woman was found dead in the 9500 block of South Avenue N at around 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said she was discovered in that area with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 2-year-old girl was wounded in a shooting Saturday in the 2500 block of West 61st Street. The shooting occurred at around 7 p.m. when an unknown person fired a shot, striking the girl in her right leg. She was hospitalized in good condition.
