According to the Chicago Police Department, eight people were shot — one fatally — in seven separate shooting incidents between Friday evening and Sunday night.

A 28-year-old man was killed inside a residence in the 9400 block of South Vernon Avenue at around 8:45 p.m. Sunday. Officers responding to the scene found the victim lying on the bedroom floor unresponsive. He’d been shot three times and was pronounced dead.

A second victim — a 26-year-old man — who’d been shot in the stomach showed up at the University of Chicago Medical Center and stated he’d also been in that residence. He told police he knew who the shooter was, but no one was in custody as of Monday morning. The second victim was listed in good condition.

A 13-year-old boy was shot as he walked on the sidewalk in the 600 block of South Francisco at around 10 p.m. Sunday. Police said a white sedan approached and shots were fired. The victim ran and realized he’d been shot in the right shoulder and chest. He was hospitalized in good condition.

A 17-year-old boy was shot and wounded in the 3200 block of West Jackson Boulevard. He’d been walking in that area between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday when he heard shots and felt pain. The victim sustained a graze wound to the right ankle and was hospitalized in good condition.

An 18-year-old woman was shot at around noon Sunday in the 4500 block of South Wood Street. She was inside a vehicle when someone fired shots, striking her in the chest. She was hospitalized in critical condition.
