Sample Cuisines of the World at Flavors of Albany Park, June 21

Sample Cuisines of the World at Flavors of Albany Park, June 21

Albany Park on the city’s Northwest Side is one of Chicago’s most diverse neighborhoods, and as such, it’s also home to an incredible variety of restaurants. If you’ve got an adventurous palate, then it’s where you’ll want to be on June 21 for the city’s largest restaurant crawl event, Flavors of Albany Park.

“We’ve tried to capture as much of the diversity and elevate all the variations of cultures that we have in the area,” said Dalia Aragon of North River Commission, which organizes the event. “We have over 40 languages that are spoken here. I would definitely say that people don’t know that until they come explore. We have over 80 restaurants participating. A lot of them are new; a lot of them opened right during the pandemic.”

Ticket holders receive a “passport” that they can then use as a guide along one of four routes through the neighborhood, each with 17 or 18 participating restaurants offering a savory bite, a drink or a dessert. The event will be followed by an afterparty at Surge Billiards, which anyone is free to attend.

“There is just a lot to explore with cuisines, but also just the culture. I mean, you can literally go around the world just traveling down Kedzie Avenue,” Aragon said.

Flavors of Albany Park takes place from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21. Tickets are available at the North River Commission website.
