Since Feb. 8, Englewood activist Aleta Clark has been spending her nights at the East Pilsen club she promotes, called Club 51. The club has caught the attention of celebrities and people across the country — but it might not be the kind of club you’re thinking of.
Club 51 exists under a Pilsen viaduct, and Clark is sleeping there every night in solidarity with the people who live there, people she collectively calls “the friends.” Clark said she’ll keep sleeping there until she raises enough money to open a shelter.
