In this week’s edition of Spotlight Politics: 

President Biden makes good on his campaign promise to providing student loan relief for millions of Americans. 

Mayor Lori Lightfoot slams a conservative PAC for darkening her skin in an anti-JB Pritzker ad.  The ad’s creator, conservative radio host Dan Proft denies the claim that its racist saying, “This is an insane assertion — and par for the course from inveterate race hustlers like Lightfoot and Pritzker.”  Lightfoot calls it a racist dog whistle. 

Meanwhile, Gov. J.B. Pritzker pours $5.5 million into the state democratic party. 

In city news, 40% of precincts are eliminated with the newly drawn map which means fewer poll workers are needed, but it’ll be harder to get to a polling place. 

Who’s in and who’s out of the mayoral race right now as candidates spar over violence and the fate of the city’s Christopher Columbus statues.
