Thalia Hall Block Party Brings Local Music Acts to Allport Street

Thalia Hall Block Party Brings Local Music Acts to Allport Street

A new event is coming to Pilsen next week. The Thalia Hall Block Party will bring live music and food vendors to Allport Street directly in front of the historic music hall. Thalia Hall’s talent buyer Bobby Ramirez says the organizers are hoping it will become an annual tradition.

“We love food, we love music — we wanted to take all of our favorite things, put them all together, put it on the street, make it free for everybody, and have a good old time to close out the summer,” Ramirez said.

Musical guests include the headliners Thee Sacred Souls, plus locals E. Woods, Rudy De Anda, Loona Dae, La Academia, and a closing DJ set by Agua de Rosas

“We very much want it to feel like a block party but with some extra bells and whistles. It’s not a huge footprint but it is right on our block. It’s something we hope a lot of our neighbors are able to join us for and we really want to make sure that it feels like it’s something that is particularly Chicago and particularly Pilsen.”

The Thalia Hall Block Party will take place on Allport Street and 18th Street from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27. Admission is free, but a suggested donation of $5 for entry benefits the Pilsen Food Pantry.
