Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering and Gov. J.B. Pritzker attended President Joe Biden’s gun bill speech Monday, and lobbied Biden privately.  Meanwhile, Naperville’s city council is considering assault weapons ban.

In state politics, Gov. Pritzker is heading to Florida to headline Florida Democrats’ annual gala fueling talk of possible presidential aspirations as his Republican challenger, Darren Bailey, says the governor needs to come home and stop running for president, too. 

And, the ComEd bribery case against former Speaker Michael Madigan’s longtime confidant and three others has been rescheduled because of logistics issues with R. Kelly’s case. 

In city politics, will Ald. Ed Burke step down or face reelection before facing a jury in his corruption trial next year?  Chicago may be ready for ethics reform as a committee moves the measure to a full City Council vote.
