The preserves' takeover of Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington St., offers people an opportunity to learn about the preserves' vast network of hiking and biking trails, educational programs, wildlife and ecosystems, volunteer projects and amenities including campgrounds.

Representatives from partner organizations including Friends of the Forest Preserves, the Chicago Botanic Garden and the Forest Preserve Foundation will be on hand to talk about their missions and how people can get involved.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dance performances from Mandala Art and Xochitl-Quetzal Danza Azteca are scheduled to follow welcoming remarks at noon.
