They say there are two seasons in Chicago — winter and construction — but there’s actually a third: street sweeping.

The city’s street sweeping program kicks off April 1 and runs through mid-November or later, weather permitting.

Though some streets won’t receive their first pass of a sweeper until May, someone’s gotta go first. A ward-by-ward schedule is posted online, with maps of each ward and corresponding sweeping dates for each sector.

Street sweeping also means the return of “no parking” restrictions. The Department of Streets and Sanitation is reminding people to look for the bright orange signs, posted two days prior to sweeping.

Use the Sweeper Tracker online tool to view sweepers in real time.
