GOP Gubernatorial Candidates React to Explosive Allegations

The Republican race for governor has all of a sudden taken a dramatic turn as candidates today are reacting to explosive allegations.

State Treasurer Dan Rutherford  maintains that opponent Bruce Rauner is out to destroy him. Rutherford says a lawyer for one of his employees brought a misconduct allegation against him and tried to shake him down for $300,000 to keep it quiet, and that Rauner is behind the whole thing.

The attorney for the employee leveling the charges says her client, a male, was forced to do political work on state taxpayer time, and then feared for his job when he wouldn’t go along with it.
