One person is in custody after allegedly firing a gun in downtown Chicago near the Kluczynski Federal Building early Tuesday morning, authorities said.
According to Chicago police, a man was seen firing the weapon at around 4:30 a.m. in the 200 block of S. Dearborn.
A Department of Homeland Security spokesperson said a federal protective service security officer reported an active shooter on federal property near the Kluczynski Federal Building.
No one was struck by gunfire and no injuries were reported, police said, though a nearby building in the 200 block of South Clark did sustain some damage.
The spokesperson described that damage as “minor.”
Police officers located the man at the scene and he was placed into custody. One firearm was recovered, police said, and charges are pending.
Both Chicago police and DHS spokespersons said investigations remain ongoing.
