Subzero Chicago Temperatures Expected With Wind Chill Approaching Minus 20 Degrees Through Tuesday

Yes, it’s cold. And yes, it’s about to get even colder.
After Monday’s daytime temperatures hovered in the single digits, they are expected to dip to minus 10 to minus 3 degrees overnight, according to the National Weather Service. Flurries and isolated snow showers are also expected in the Chicago region.
If that’s not frosty enough, wind chills will drop as low as minus 20 to minus 30 degrees Monday night into Tuesday morning.
On Tuesday, expect highs between zero and 4 degrees during the day and lows hovering just above and below zero overnight.
The weather service is warning of rapid ice formation on area rivers that could lead to ice jams and very localized flooding.
Temperatures will remain cold during the middle of the week, with highs in the 20s on Wednesday and approaching 29 degrees by Thursday. There is an additional chance for snow Wednesday into Wednesday evening.
