Chicago has long been known for nurturing diverse music genres and also, infamously, as a place where one of them died. RIP disco.
But another musical form — known as house music — rose from its ashes.
To mark the 40th anniversary of its invention, a new “Chicago Stories” documentary is celebrating the innovative and catchy dance music that still inspires prominent artists today.
Producer Barbara Allen joined “Chicago Tonight: Black Voices” to discuss the documentary.
“House Music: A Cultural Revolution” airs on WTTW at 8 p.m. Friday. For more information, visit wttw.com/chicagostories.
