Chicago Police Seeking to ID Man in Connection to Fatal Shooting of Officer Luis Huesca
Chicago police have published video footage of a person of interest they’re seeking to identify and locate in connection to the fatal shooting of Officer Luis Huesca.
The CPD released multiple surveillance footage clips of a man, who can be seen entering a pair of convenience stores. Investigators believe that man is connected to Huesca’s death.
Officers responding to a ShotSpotter alert at around 3 a.m. Sunday drove to the 3100 block of W. 56th Street, where they discovered Huesca, 30, outside with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police Superintendent Larry Snelling on Sunday said Huesca’s vehicle was taken from the scene, but he stopped short of confirming that the officer had been the victim of a carjacking.
Huesca was killed two days before his 31st birthday.
“He was just a great officer, great human being and his family is dealing with a lot right now,” Snelling said Sunday.
The police department said the man should be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone sees this individual, police said they should not approach him, but should instead call 911.
Anyone with information about the man is asked to contact Area One Detective Division at 312-747-8380 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTip.com.
