In a major blow to selfie opportunities, up-close views of “The Bean” will be limited through next spring due to planned repairs, according to the city.
Starting this Tuesday and continuing through the spring of 2024, construction will be taking place in Grainger Plaza, the area of Millennium Park that houses the more formally named “Cloud Gate,” according to the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events.
Maintenance of the plaza’s pavers will be taking place along with other repairs and accessibility upgrades, according to information posted to the department’s website.
The reflective sculpture by Anish Kapoor has become a massive tourist destination in the almost two decades since Millennium Park officially opened.
The city says the park is the No. 1 attraction in the Midwest.
