On Monday, the Illinois Department of Transportation will begin a yearslong construction project on the Kennedy Expressway. Commuters will start to see traffic impacted as early as Tuesday. The backups will also affect the Edens and the Dan Ryan expressways. The project is expected to cost $150 million and will focus this year on bridge decks and inbound lanes.
Jonathan Schumacher, IDOT District 1 bureau chief of construction, joined “Chicago Tonight” to discuss the project, its impact and what commuters can expect.
