7 Killed in Shootings Across Chicago Over Holiday Weekend: Police

Seven people were killed in separate shooting incidents over the holiday weekend across Chicago.

According to Chicago Police Department data, 25 people were shot in 23 separate shooting incidents between 6 p.m. Friday and 11:59 p.m. Monday.

A 29-year-old man was killed just before noon Saturday in the 5600 block of West Lake Street. He was outside when three people approached, one of whom opened fire, striking the victim in his back and neck. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired at around 11:40 am. Sunday located a 54-year-old man in the 400 block of East 82nd Street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

A 41-year-old woman was fatally shot in the 6200 block of South Michigan Avenue at around 5:15 p.m. Sunday. Police said she was hospitalized in critical condition with gunshot wounds to her neck and chest, but later died.

A 25-year-old man was killed just before midnight Sunday as he rode in a vehicle in the 2600 block of West Fitch Avenue. He was in a passenger seat when someone in a black sedan fired shots into his vehicle, striking the victim in his right leg and hip.

Less than an hour later, a 20-year-old man was fatally shot near a bus stop in the 100 block of West 87th Street early Monday morning. He was standing outside when a man exited a gray colored Dodge Durango and shot him in the abdomen. He later died of his injuries.

One man was killed and another wounded in a drive-by shooting in the 800 block of East 79th Street. Then men were outside just after midnight Monday when someone inside a black sedan fired shots at them. A 25-year-old victim was hospitalized in fair condition with gunshot wounds to his legs, while a 36-year-old victim was struck in the abdomen and died.

An unidentified man was found just after 5 a.m. Monday in the 0-100 block of South Pulaski Road with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Stroger Hospital and pronounced dead.
