2 Teens Among 5 People Killed in Weekend Shootings Across Chicago: Police

Five people, including two teenagers, were killed in separate shootings across Chicago over the weekend.

According to Chicago Police Department data, 35 people were shot in 32 individual shooting incidents between 6 p.m. Friday evening and 11:59 p.m. Sunday night. Those victims included a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old who were each killed.

The weekend’s first homicide occurred at around 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of North Waller Avenue when a 26-year-old man standing outside was shot multiple times. He was taken to Stroger Hospital with gunshot wounds to his abdomen, right bicep and right knee, and was pronounced dead.

At around 2:30 p.m. that same day, an 18-year-old man was traveling in a vehicle westbound in the 1900 block of West 17th Street when he was shot in the back by an unknown offender. Police said he too was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he later died.

A 27-year-old man was standing in front of a home in the 400 block of West 104th Street at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday when he was shot in the neck and died on scene.

At around 7 p.m. Saturday, a 17-year-old boy was found dead inside a vehicle in the 1900 block of South State Street. The boy had been shot once in the head and was seated in the passenger side of the vehicle, which was parked in an alley, police said.

A 20-year-old woman was killed just after 3 a.m. as she stood outside in the 6800 block of West Grand Avenue. Police said she was standing on a sidewalk when someone inside a nearby vehicle fired shots, striking her in the head. She was pronounced dead on scene.
